Platelet-rich plasma therapy is a form of regenerative medicine recently developed when doctors learned that the body can heal itself. PRP injections are generally used to treat torn tendons, tendinitis, muscle injuries, arthritis-related pain, and joint injuries.
PRP uses injections of a concentration of a patient’s platelets to accelerate the healing. The process starts with a blood draw, then the blood is centrifugated to concentrate the platelets and grow factors into a small amount of fluid. There activated platelets are then injected directly into your injured or diseased body tissue.
